This weekend, I came across a blog from an anthropologist who had developed a system of categorizing man camps in the Bakken oil fields. He has three types – 1, 2, and 3.
This is a diagram of the first. It’s the most ordered, and is typically run by an oil company or logistics firm. This diagram is traced from the Tioga Lodge run by Target Logistics.
Type 2 man camps are composed of trailers which are hooked up to stations which provide power and sewage. I think I traced this is from an image of a type 2, but it could also be a type 3 – trailers which have no running water or power.
