The following is an in progress map of the Williston area. The map depicts various roads, railways, and water ways. In addition, the field of circles represent individual wells drilled ranging in stages of operation.
The Grasshopper definition shown below uses the ‘Elk’ plugin to read .osm data from OpenStreetMap.org (open source mapping). And the wells are located using the spreadsheet provided by North Dakota GIS indicating well gps coordinates, drill date, and well status (among other info). Obviously there is a lot of potential to use parametric scripts to mine data and generate layered mapping info. All of this info is being parsed through Grasshopper and plotted in a Rhino viewport.
